We are eager to get the Hilltop Children’s House going, by opening THIS FALL!
Last evening Noëlle and I sat down after dinner and established a schedule for the first year of operation (first day of sessions will be Monday, October 1) and what is needed to get it open.
Noëlle, already fully trained in the Catechesis of the Good Shepherd, is pursuing the basic Montessori training to make this first year with 10 students happen.
I’m working on a few things at the building to prepare it for usage, in particular fixing an issue with the back door and back porch.
In total, here are our needs, with approximate costs:
- Training and Montessori Manual: $2,250
- Montessori Starter Materials kit: $800
- 2 dehumidifiers: $600
- Furniture and rugs for the space, plus various and sundry specialty materials: $1,000
- Materials for repairs to the back door and porch: $500
We are planning a significant renovation of the building next year, but it is so important to open this year so the good effects of Montessori can start to happen.
You can partner with us now by helping to finance this phase of the project, either with a one-time donation or as a Hilltop Children’s Champion! Support the HCH here »
The last thing we need to confirm is STUDENTS. Ten of them, ages 3 and 4. To get this off the ground and encourage enrollments we will significantly reduce tuition for those who join us in this first year. Anyone interested should email us at [email protected] for more information.
We will host an informational open house ice cream social at the Hilltop Children’s House building at 1300 Maryland Avenue on Tuesday, August 7. More on that, and promotions, to come soon.
