Summer Camps 2023
Take advantage of summer camps at Hilltop Children’s House!
We’re offering four camps this summer, during the month of July. The benefits of the materials and methods in the Montessori educational approach make these camps unlike anything children see in conventional schooling, and even in many homeschool environments.
Times: All camps run 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.
Snack: Snack is included each day.
Ages: The Math and Reading camp is for children six and older. The Nature and Art Masters camps will be for children four and older.
Limited Class Size: The Math and Reading camp is limited to six children. The Nature and Art Masters campus will be limited to 12 children.
Nature Camp
July 10-14
Explore different aspects of nature. Through a Montessori approach to practical life, craft projects, identification card exercises, physical activities, and demonstrations, children will learn more about the world around us. Themes: nests, flowers, trees, rocks, and herbs.
A Musical Roadtrip Through the U.S. Camp
July 17-21
Children will visit various locations through the U.S. and learn music and dance particular to the regions. Also children will develop an understanding of musical symbols, notes, and some theory.
Math and Reading Camp
July 24 – August 4
Children who struggle with math and reading can benefit from a Montessori approach. The math portion of this program will cover addition, multiplication, subtraction, and division. Mathematical concepts are learned through specialized Montessori materials and presentations, like bead chains, the stamp game, the exchange game, and the snake game.
Children who struggle with phonetic reading, cursive writing, and functions of words and their usage, can benefit from a Montessori approach to learning reading. A research project will help them understand the importance of reading well, and give them practice in synthesizing and restating in their own words.
In the end, a baking project will help to bring both math and reading together as they read a recipe and measure ingredients.
