Job Opening: Assistant Guide, Primary Classroom

Hilltop Children’s House is seeking an Assistant Guide for a full-time position in the children’s house (Primary classroom) for the 2022-23 school year. 

Located in the Labelle neighborhood of Steubenville, OH, Hilltop Children’s House provides children with an environment where their natural curiosity, desire for order, longing for beauty, ability to concentrate, and capacity for growth within a society can flourish, so that they might more fully realize their potential as children of God.

The Assistant Guide will collaborate with the Lead Guide to prepare and maintain an orderly, attractive, and joyful environment and will provide another pair of observant, attentive eyes and ears to the classroom. The Assistant Guide will also model courteous and respectful behavior and contribute to a supportive and calm atmosphere in the room. Other duties of the Assistant Guide include maintaining the supply of consumable items, assisting with the creation of new materials and repairing damaged ones, and ensuring that the classroom remains clean and tidy.

Candidates will be at least 18 years old, have prior experience working with children, and be passionate about Montessori philosophy. Candidates must also have a positive attitude, willingness to learn, the ability to take direction well, and be professional, reliable, and responsible. Prior experience in a Montessori setting is a plus.
