Many days we sing as we work. Sometimes it is many different songs. Sometimes it’s all together.
Doing multiples of four (she’s six), a report on gerbils (she’s ten), and adding multiple 6-digit numbers with the dot game (they’re six and seven, respectively).
Later in the morning these learners moved on to a report on geckos, animal tracks matching flash cards, and a different advanced addition work, respectively.
Meantime, another learner in another part of the room (he’s nine) initiated a chemical experiment to test the reactions of different proportions of the constituent parts.

Lunch this week has been banh mi meatballs, quick pickled veggies, noodles with peanut sauce, and rice, with a sriracha mayo topping.
And in elementary we end lunch every day with the Angelus.

I have two board games in production in my Elementary. One is minimalist in art and design, but the play is rather intricate. The other is much more visually developed, but it is a simpler game to play.
In both cases I had discussions with the makers about the importance of writing down the rules.
If they’re not written down they can be tough to remember. If they’re not written down the rule giver could just change them with no evidence that they were ever otherwise. If they’re not written down, those who are playing the game can’t plan their strategy because they don’t know what the guidelines are and if they will change.
It’s a great lesson for life in society, which is what we’re about in here.
